Organic Farming and Peoria Longterm?

Today part of my day was spent touring an organic farm and garden. It was a nice break from my normal job but it was really hot and without pesticide, there were lots and lots of bugs as well! (Has it been 100+ degrees in Ohio? Because I'm sick of it here!) Anyways, we got to see the farm and garden, learn about organic farming methods and taste test a lot of really delicious fruits and vegetables. So that was my excitement for the day!

Also, you know how things sometimes work out in mysterious ways? Well, about a month ago Derek applied for a Director of Family Ministries position in Pekin, a smaller town outside of Peoria. We had both assumed they weren't going to consider him because we never heard anything-until today they gave him an application (He had sent them his resume) and told him they will be having interviews in August and that they would provide housing for him and his family. So, who knows! If he gets that job we'll definately be in Peoria for longer than 10 more months. (My mom did not take that well!)

HAHA, I just got back from about a half hour outside. A girl in an apartment downstairs burnt popcorn and set all the alarms off...in fact they're still going off, and it's LOUD. But it will take another half hour for maintenance to come and reset the alarms. It felt like college all over again-being unprepared to go outside (braless) and hanging out with the neighbors. The girl who set the alarms off told us she was cooking "real" popcorn-not the microwave type. The kind that's oil and real kernels. Well, apparently she caught the oil on fire and burnt up the hood and we saw lots and lots of smoke. Now she's going to get charged a lot for emergency maintenance to come after hours and for the damage to the stove. It feel really bad for her-not to mention the fact that her boyfriend was very upset with her! And I feel fortunate because about the 2nd night we were here, I set the smoke alarm in our apartment off, but not the one in the entire building-thank goodness! I didn't cause any evacuations or inconvenience to anyone but myself and Derek. Man I hope this alarm stops going off soon so I can go to bed!

P.S. I have a job interview tomorrow-at a department store called Bergners that's run by Saks 5th Avenue. Derek told me if I got a part-time job I could spend 50% of my earnings shopping, so I really hope I get it! If not, I probably will be wearing the same clothes all year! Wow, that was a long post-I hadn't anticipated the fire alarm bit...sorry!

P.S.S. Is there a party this weekend and if so where and when is it?

Yeah, it has been around 100 degrees in Ohio, but it has finally cooled down!

Good luck with your job interview and for Derek's. Staying in Peoria could be cool!
