Walgreens just lost a customer...
Yesterday I went to work at 7:30 but I was so sick, I left by 9:30. So, I decided since I had already taken the day off, I may as well go to the doctor. So I went to the doctor, which took about 20 minutes. Then I headed off to Walgreens to pick up my prescription. Well, an hour and 15 minutes later, I had my prescription and a really bad attitude from waiting so long (and because I would have much rather been at home in bed!!) And just as a note, I have to say I didn't complain or say anything mean to anyone at the pharmacy even though I really wanted to!So, I get home and get my medicine, glad that I finally have some drugs that will make me feel better...but when I open them up, I realized they had given me someone else's medicine!!! So, as if I wasn't mad enough to begin with, by this time I am REALLY mad!! I had wasted so much time waiting, and I now knew I was going to have to go out again, in the crappy weather to get my prescription. So I called and talked to someone at the pharmacy who acted like it as no big deal and it happens all the time! She just said, "Oh, we're sorry, can you come back and we'll switch them?" Well, that poor lady...She got the brunt of all my frustrations...but I did go back and get MY prescription and I feel a lot better, so in the end it's ok, but I still think I should sue. Think of what could have happened if I would have taken the wrong medication! One of my friends from high school's dad actually had a heart attack because the pharmacy gave him her sister's prescription on accident. Sorry, but I was so mad about spending so much of my sick day at Walgreens instead of on the couch, so I wanted to tell you all about it! Aren't you glad you're my friends and you get to hear my complaints?

Wow - they gave you the wrong medicine!? That really could have been dangerous! Did you know that iatrogenic reactions (conditions that results from Dr.'s and pharmeseutical errors) are the 3rd leading cause of death now? Just say NO to drugs! Long live your immune system and your body's innate ability to heal itself!

Yeah, that could have been a really serious problem! Thanks for telling us about this issue. It will remind me to always make sure I have the right prescription before I begin taking anything!

I found out about a month ago that my director (of the program) and her daughter are in the process of suing Walgreens and are looking at at least one million dollars. Her daughter has always had seizures and she took a daily medicine that kept them under control. A few years ago, Walgreens gave her the wrong prescription. And for three or four days she was taking the wrong medicine without realizing it (they pills looked the same I guess). Well she then had two massive seizures back to back, which never happens, so they knew something was wrong. She received major brain damage from these seizures and now has lost a lot of her memory and can never complete college or have a normal job. And she still has seizures but they are under control now.
So that was a long story, but I guess my point was these things do happen so always be extra careful. I'm glad you caught it because something serious could have happened. And I would have been so frustrated if I were you. I hope you have the chance to relax this weekend!

Who knew this happened so frequently in the U.S. of all places?
