Let me tell you a story...
This is a true story that took place in November of 2002 in Van Wert, Ohio. (Many of you have heard this story, but I have to repeat it for dramatic effect.) Anyways, an F-4 tornado hit Van Wert, one of which spots was a movie theatre. Luckily, the owner of the theatre was very smart and took everyone from the theatre into the middle to a safe spot and although the theatre was destroyed, no one was hurt. (That is, except one man who decided to leave and drive home-he was killed when flying debris hit his car.) So, everyone in the theatre was fine, but they left the theatre to see the seats they were sitting in now had cars and other debris in them. Luckily, I wasn't there, but I did know people who were...
Now fast forward to today,
Derek and I decided to enjoy our Sunday afternoon and go see a movie. It was a good movie too (Inside Man) and it was near the end and all of the sudden, the movie just stops! Everyone is looking around confused when a theatre employee walks in to tell us there's a tornado watch and we all have to go to Cinema 1. So we all crowd into this tiny hallway and wait... We could have gone home, but didn't want to chance it. So Derek and I waited, while trying not to freak out. Of course no one else seemed to care at all, but it was too creepy for Derek and I to not be freaking. Of all of the places for us to be when a tornado warning occurs, but at a movie theatre! What are the odds?!? So we just waited for about a half an hour, and fortunately, the tornado warning was lifted and the theatre was still standing. There is a slightly funny ending though. Of course when we were done waiting out the tornado, we had to decide whether or not we wanted to watch the end of our movie. On one hand, it was a really good movie and we wanted to see the ending, but we didn't want to come back some other time and watch the whole movie again just to see the ending. But on the other hand, there was still bad weather and the possiblity of a tornado... So Derek and I decided just to watch the end, we didn't think there was much time left anyways, so we went back into our cinema along with a lot of other people. So they start running the movie again from where it stopped, and 30-60 seconds later, it was over! LOL Everyone in the theatre was laughing, it was hilarious. I am so glad Derek and I didn't decide to come back and watch it some other time, it would have been frustrating to watch the entire movie again, up to the point the movie stopped, and then less than a minute more!
So anyways, it was a scary day, considering my hometown history of theatres and tornados, but it was a good day too, and a good movie, I highly recommend it!

wow that is crazy! We had a tornado warnig here too. The sirens went off awhile ago and we all had to go in the basement for a half an hour or so. Nothing hit near us though, but it was a bad storm.

We had warnings too! Apparently it was really bad in Tenneessee. I think 20 people died. I was here all alone and the sirens went off and the power went out. It was creepy enough. I was watching a movie too! (not quite the same though)

Yikes! I'm glad I don't live near tornadoes.

We had warnings here too, but no sirens going off. My mom and dad lost power because high winds knocked down a pole. I'm glad everyone is okay!
