A Rough Couple of Weeks...

Well, you all have not heard from me in a while and I appologize... but it's been a rough couple of weeks for me and Derek as well as our families. Where do I start? I'll start with the good news. About two weeks ago, my mom got a breast biopsy done. They were very worried about some things they had seen on an ultrasound and were concerned my mother had breast cancer. Praise God all of the tests came back negative. There is no cancer, and the growths that are there are not the type that can develop into cancer either... so that was a huge relief for my family after days of worrying and stress.

That news came a few days before Easter. Then onto Easter... Derek preached at our Sunrise Service and did a wonderful job, it was a great service run by the youth group. We also had a nice breakfast afterwards before the next two services. So after the breakfast and before the 8:15 service, I decided to go home. While I was home, Derek's cell phone kept ringing nonstop. I knew this was odd, since everyone should know it's Sunday and Easter morning, Derek would be at church of course. So I looked to see his mom had called multiple times, so I decided to call her because I knew she must have really wanted to talk to him. Well, when I called I found out one of Derek's aunts had passed away Easter morning unexpectedly. She had been perfectly healthy, never had any health problems. Apparently, she had just had some pain in her legs after a bus trip to New York a week or so before. Then Easter morning, she told her son (who happens to be a Freshman at Bluffton) to call 911 because her legs hurt really bad and she was having problems breathing. Well, as he went to call 911, she went to the bathroom, collapsed, and that was pretty much it. Apparently, she had a blood clot in her leg, and it went to hear heart. It was a terrible shock to the whole family, his aunt was only 45. So, Derek and I went home and spent the whole week at home, at viewings and the funeral. Normally, I would love to spend a week at home, but under the circumstances, it wasn't as enjoyable as normal. So please keep Derek's family in your prayers, his aunt left her husband and 3 children, a freshman in college, senior in high school, and sophomore in high school.

Well, that was a depressing blog entry... On a brighter note, Derek and I have been enjoying the beautiful weather. We have been taking walks every day and spending a lot of time outside. I am so excited that it's spring and the flowers are blooming, aren't they beautiful? Also, it's almost my birthday and then the end of my internship!! and then, most importantly...paychecks!!!
