Abby's Blog

If you ever find happiness by hunting for it, you will find it as the old woman did her lost spectacles. Safe on her own nose all the time. ~ Josh Billings

So much going on...

So much has been going on lately, I don't even know where to start. Last weekend Derek and I saw Red Eye. Has anyone else seen it? I thought it was really good! Anyways, I've also been working more at Kohl's which I'm beginning to hate. Some nights it is ok, but last night was boring and the manager I was with was anti-social and treated me like crap every time I had a question even though I was barely trained and customers were jerks so it was a bad night. (Is that a run-on sentence, Mrs. Heitkamp?)

This week has also been crazy with internship stuff. Monday at work I had two presentations which went alright but about made me sick to my stomach from nervousness. Then that night I had to go to a Gastric Bypass Support Group meeting which was interesting. Tonight I had to go to a weight loss meeting with a group called "Celebrating Healthy Eating For Life," then all of us interns (and Derek) went to Katrina and Brooke's apartment for pizza and beer! (Although I don't like beer) I'm now working on my next presentation (which has to be 30+ minutes!?!?), but I'm currently on the researching stage because I don't even have a topic set for sure yet...any ideas?

The Pediatric ICU floor has been interesting. I actually really like it although it is really sad. I'll probably go back and do some staff relief on that floor because I have really enjoyed it. I'd like to tell you all about it, but of course with patient confidentiality I can't really say much except all the babies are really cute and sometimes I just want to go in and play with the babies-although most of them are too critical to do that anyways. Next week I'm on the Pediatric floor with the kids who are much less critical...so I might get to play with some of them!!!

I'm looking forward to the weekend but unfotunately Derek and I don't have any money to do anything. And that is no exaggeration! (But because of my last entry I am not complaining, simply informing you of the boring weekend I have ahead of me!) But that's alright, I just want a chance to relax! (and sleep!) Next weekend we're going home for Labor Day weekend and the VW county fair! That will be really fun- except running into my old classmates and attempting to make small talk. We're also going to the Lonestar concert at the fair, although most of you probably have no idea who that is-Abby, I'm guessing you're the only one who might have a clue? Oh and Derek's birthday is Tuesday (the 30th) and I'm afraid I might have to work at Kohl's. Maybe I'll call in sick! What's the worst they'll do? Fire me and put me out of my misery? (I have a bad attitude about Kohl's, sorry!) Well, no more rambling (and no more complaining either) Have a great weekend everyone!

P.S. I know my last blog was about not complaining because I'm really blessed...but no one's perfect!

P.S.S. This was a long blog. (I'm trying to keep up with Maria!)

hooray for long blogs! I was thinking about seeing Red Eye but haven't yet, maybe I will. I did see Wedding Crashers though, it was funny but I agree with you about the vulgar thing. Luckily I didn't pay for it b/c I had free movie tickets from Starbucks. And vanilla steamers are good..but if you want something cold and non coffee tasting you should try the passion tea lemonade. And we have good chai tea lattes. Enough about Starbucks..your internship sounds so interesting! I hope I will have an interesting job in KY. And good luck with the whole second job thing. I'm sure it can be tough. And it is now late Thursday night and I still haven't started packing! I have two days though...now try to compete with this very long comment!
