My 15 minutes of fame

Every day I want to blog, but then I try to think of something to write about and I can't think of anything so I put it off. Even now I don't have much to say, but oh well. At least since I don't have much to say, my entry won't be as long as Maria or Rebas. (But that's ok because they actually have interesting things to say) As for me, I've been working a lot and doing a lot of church stuff. Nothing too blogworthy, but I'll try to come up with something.

Last night Derek and I went to watch the Pekin High School production of "Beauty and the Beast." It was wonderful! It was also the first time I've been inside the high school which was kind of shocking. I only saw one wing of the high school, but I think it was bigger than Van Wert's entire school. I can't imagine going to such a large high school. For example, their budget for "Beauty and the Beast" I was told was $20,000! Do most big schools have a budget like that? (Maria, do you know, I don't think anyone else went to a very big high school?) Anyways, the musical was great, we really enjoyed it. The best character was Lumiere (the candlestick) He was hilarious, and he had that goofy fake French accent down perfectly. It was also fun to watch dancing plates, spoons, napkins, etc.

Tomorrow is going to be my 15 minutes of fame. It's the "Women's Lifestyle Expo" at the Peoria Civic Center and they're expecting over 5,000 women to come. Us Senior Interns will be doing cooking demos throughout the day. We have a stage and the fun microphones that go over the ear and everything. I would be nervous, but I'm actually not the "head chef" in my cooking demo, I'm just going to be the side kick, chopping up veggies, etc. But who knows how many people will be watching! It will be fun, but it will be a long day too. (Working 9-5 on a Satuday is not my idea of a fun weekend, but what can I do?)

Well, that's the only interesting thing I can think to talk about besides I am loving this weather. They are calling for a high of 70 tomorrow! Derek and I have been taking Teddy on lots of walks at the park which is fun!

It sounds like you two are really getting comfortable there in Pekin. Good for you!

Good luck with your fifteen minutes of fame! And my high school did have pretty good musicals in my opinion, but I'm not sure what the budget was. $20,000 seems like a lot though. I wouldn't think we had that much, but who knows.

$20,000 is quite a budget! My high school was kind of big (with 260-300 in a graduating class), but my whole county went to the same high school. And, our theater was not good.

Do you remember Lynn Barnes? She always said, "I won't make you rich, but I'll make you famous." $20,000 - it doesn't cost that much for all my expenses for a year in Bangladesh!
