Culture Shock
Today at work I got consulted by a doctor to give diet education to a Pakistani man who was a newly diagnosed diabetic. So after I was assured he spoke English and I didn't need a translator, I started to think about the situation and became more nervous. How could I give education to a man who probably eats foods I've never heard of? Could I do it? Would he ask me about foods I was completely unfamiliar with? So despite all of this, I had to go, so I did. So I gave him all the information, educated him on carbohydrate counting and then came the questions... And who would have guessed question #1 would be "So can I still eat at McDonalds?" How ironic!
